Our people: Claire Spencer

Claire comes with an eclectic background, having studied Teaching and Drama, she has worked in Education, IT and most recently as a Senior Social Media Consultant to a Top 20 ASX listed company. Working in the Corporate world has taught her one thing; opportunities to practice mindfulness are everywhere 😉

In 1997, Claire was fortunate enough to meet Therese Bottomly (a Senior Student of Ven.Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden). While initially skeptical, the teachings felt like reconnecting with an old friend. It would take several years of returning to practice and finding a heart connection with a teacher that would transform Claire’s view.

In 2005, Claire departed Melbourne on her first Buddhist pilgrimage to India. The experience forever changed her. She continues to travel India extensively, always returning to Dharamsala to volunteer with charitable organisations such as Tong-Len and attend teachings. She has been blessed to receive teachings and Highest Tantric Yoga Initiation from His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama. She has also been incredibly fortunate to have completed a  retreat with His Holiness here in Sydney.

Receiving guidance from Tamkey, her partner in work and life as to the profound and practical application of Lojong has strengthened her resolve to live mindfully.
Inspired by the transformative qualities of the Lojong practice, she is driven to share her understanding so that others may find the same sense of contentment and true happiness that she has.
